Arı ürünlerinin insan sağlığındaki önemi II: Kullanıldığı hastalıklar

Bir önceki yazımızda arı ürünlerinin özelliklerinden bahsetmiştik. Bültenimizin bu sayısında bal, polen, propolis, bal mumu, arı sütü ve arı zehiri gibi arı ürünlerinin de insan sağlığına olan etkilerini 148 bilimsel referansın eşliğinde inceleyeceğiz.

ARI ÜRÜNLERİNİN İNSAN SAĞLIĞINDAKİ ÖNEMİ: II. KULLANILDIĞI HASTALIKLAR

Bilim adamları yaptıkları çok sayıda araştırmalarda bal, polen, propolis, bal mumu, arı sütü ve arı zehiri gibi arı ürünlerinin de insan sağlığına olumlu etkilerde bulunduğunu göstermişlerdir. Yazımızın bu bölümünde bunları teker teker inceleyeceğiz.

1.       BAL

Sağlıklı bir hayat için şekerli gıdaların kısıtlanması şarttır. Bal da şekerli bir gıdadır. Ama aynı kısıtlama bal için de geçerli midir?

Çay şekeri (sükroz) ya da bal her ikisi de früktoz+glükoz’dur. Ama aralarında çok büyük farklar vardır. Her şeyden önce bal tam bir gıdadır; sükroz ise değildir. Sükrozda teknik olarak sadece bir beslenme unsuru vardır. Halbuki bal çok sayıda makro ve mikrobesleyiciler, enzimler, probiyotikler, prebiyotikler ve vitaminler ve mineraller içerir (1).

Baldaki şeker, şeker pancarı ya da şeker kamışından elde edilen şeker ile kıyaslanmamalıdır. Balda früktoz ve glükoz gibi tek şekerlere (monosakkaritler) ilaveten küçük miktarlarda en az 25 çeşit oligosakkarit (2-10 arası birbirine bağlanmış tek şeker), az miktarda sükroz (çift şeker) ve melezitoz ve erloz gibi trisakkaritler de bulunur.

Bir tam gıdayı unsurlarına ayırın ve tek tek tüketin bir yoğun yan etki ile karşılaşırsınız. Halbuki o gıdayı bir bütün halinde yerseniz önemli bir sorun olmayacağı gibi sağlığınız için faydalı olacaktır. Yani nasıl kalori= kalori diyemeyeceğiniz gibi, şeker=şeker de diyemezsiniz.

Bal-Şeker-Obezite-diyabet

2010 yılında yayınlanan bir araştırmada 14 şişman olamayan sağlıklı kadında balın iştah hormonları (ghrelin, peptit YY) ve kan şekeri üzerine olan etkileri incelenmiştir. Balın kan şekerini çok yükseltmediği ve iştah hormonlarını fazla artırmadığı gözlenmiştir (2).

2004 yılında yapılan başka bir araştırmada, halis bal, glükoz ve sükrozun (çay şekeri) karşılaştırıldığında balın diyabetik ve hiperlipemik hastalarda kan şekerinini, homosistini (kardiyovasküler risk faktörü), CRP’yi (iltihap göstergesi) ve kan yağlarını düşürdüğü görülmüştür (3).

Farelerde yapılan araştırmalarda halis balın kilo vermeyi hızlandırdığı ve yağlanmayı azalttığı gösterilmiştir (10). Bu konuda yapılmış çok sayıda insan araştırmalarında balın obezite, diyabet ve kan yağları üzerinde faydalı etkileri gösterilmiştir (4-9). Balın ayrıca miyokart enfarktüsü korunmasında (10) ve miyokard (kalp kası) performansının artırılmasında (11) da yararı saptanmıştır.

Bal-enfeksiyonlar

Eski çağlardan beri bal enfeksiyonların tedavisinde yoğun olarak kullanılmıştır. Balın bakteriler üzerine olan etkisi içerdiği hidrojen peroksit, metilgiloksal ve bee-defensin-1 gibi maddelere bağlanmaktadır (12).

Çok sayıda hayvan ve insan araştırmasında balın çeşitli enfeksiyonların tedavisinde faydalı olduğu gösterilmiştir (13-24).

Bal-Yanıklar

Balın yanıklar üzerine de olumlu etkileri vardır. 3.yüzyıl Yunan filozofu Celsus yanıkların tedavisinde bal ve kepek karışımını başarıyla kullanmıştır (25). Günümüzde yapılan çeşitli araştırmalarda da balın yanık tedavisinde yararlı olduğu göstermiştir (26, 27).

Bal-yara tedavisi

Bal çeşitli yaraların tedavisinde geçmişte olduğu gibi günümüzde başarı ile kullanılmaktadır (28-35).

Bal-Probiyotikler

Son yıllarda probiyotiklerin insan sağlığı açısından ne kadar faydalı olduğu iyice anlaşılmıştır. Yeteri kadar bilinmese de bal probiyotiklerden de çok zengindir.  Araştırıcılar balda çok sayıda bilinen probiyotikler yanında diğer yiyeceklerde bulunmayan en az 50 çeşit yeni laktik asit bakterisinin olduğunu göstermişlerdir. Bu bakterilerin en az 100 milyon yıllık olduğu saptanmıştır (36). 2000 yılında yapılan bir araştırmada çay şekeri ve balın probiyotik üremesi üzerine etkisi incelenmiş ve balın, şekere kıyasla probiyotik üremesini 10 ile 100 kat daha fazla artırdığını göstermişlerdir (37). Balın probiyotik artırıcı etkisi niçin enfeksiyonlara karşı doğal bir antibiyotik olduğu gerçeğini de göstermektedir.

Bal-Kanserler

Bal kanser korunma ve tedavisinde de kullanılan doğal bir gıdadır. Balın antikansorejen olması muhtemelen apotozisi artırarak, hücre üreme hızını azaltarak ve antioksidan ve antienflamatuar etkilerine bağlıdır (38-41).İnsan ve hayvanlarda yapılan çok sayıda araştırma balın birçok kanserin alternatif tedavisinde yerinin olabileceğini göstermektedir;

Bal- Mide-bağırsak hastalıkları

Bal mide-bağırsak hastalıklarının dahili ve cerrahi tedavisinde de başarı ile kullanılmıştır (52-58).

Bal-Öksürük

Çocuklarda yapılan çeşitli çalışmalarda balın öksürük tedavisinde de çok faydalı olduğu gösterilmiştir (59-63).

Bal-bebek beslenmesi

Balda bazen Clostridium botulinum isimli bakterinin endosporları bulunur. Bağırsakları henüz olgunlaşmamış süt çocuklarında tehlikeli olan toksik ishal gelişebilir. Bu nedenle hayatın ilk ayında bebelere bal verilmesi önerilmez (64).

2.       ARI SÜTÜ

Yetişkinler için alınacak günlük ortalama doz genel sağlık ve vücut direncinin korunması için 500 mg, hastalık ve rahatsızlık hallerinde 1 g olarak önerilmektedir. Çocuklarda ise yaşa ve doktor tavsiyesine göre, yetişkin dozun yarısı ile dörtte biri arasındaki doz kullanılabilir. İdeal kullanım için yetişkin kişilerde günlük kullanım en fazla 10-15 gr olmalıdır. Bir çay kaşığı 3-5 gr gelmektedir. Bununla beraber alerji dışında aşırı doz kullanımına bağlı yan etkiler bilinmemektedir. Yapılan araştırmalarda arı sütünün çok sayıda hastalıkta faydalı olabileceği gösterilmiştir.

3.       POLLEN

Polen, sabahları aç karnına, kahvaltıdan en az yarım saat önce ya da akşam yemeğinden en az 4 saat sonra tercihen yatmadan önce sade olarak veya ılık süt ve meyve suları içinde alınmalıdır. Günlük alınması gereken doz duruma göre, yetişkinlerde 15-40 g, 6-12 yaş grubu çocuklarda 10-15 g, 3-5 yaş grubu çocuklarda ise 5-15 g’dır. Bir yemek kaşığı kuru polen yaklaşık 10 g’dır. Pollen çeşitli hastalıkların tedavisinde kullanılmaktadır;

4.       BALMUMU

5.       ARI ZEHİRİ (BEE VENOM)

Arı zehiri alerjik reaksiyonlar oluşturmasın diye başlangıçta küçük dozlarda verilir, daha sonra doz giderek artırılır. Yani tıbbi dille söyleyecek olursak desentizasyon yapılır (107).  Arı zehiri çeşitli hastalıkların tedavisinde kullanılmaktadır;

6.       PROPOLİS

Propolisin sıvı şekli ikiye bölünerek günde 10-30 damla arasında kullanılmaktadır. Propolisin başta kanserler olmak üzere çeşitli hastalıkların tedavisinde faydalı olduğu gösterilmiştir.
